"We arrived back in the U.K. early this morning, fortunately not jet lagged - but pretty weary. Firstly, I must say what a fantastic holiday we have had. South Africa is a beautiful country and so diverse in landscapes. Thank you for the exceptional dinner/lunch we had at Franchoek - La Femme Petite. The food was wonderful throughout our holiday. Wayne, our guide was good, he chatted away to us and made our stay memorable. Also thank you for the flowers at Fancourt."

Julia Lavradio, Portugal

"It is a week already back in Portugal and already longing for our trip to South Africa. Thank you very much for making it so memorable. All the bookings and suggestions were the right ones and even the weather was very favourable... You have a very nice country to which all of us want to go back briefly."

Isabelle and Colin, UK and Canada

"I just wanted to let you know that we really enjoyed our vacation in South Africa. Thank you very much for organising our stay in Cape Town and Pretoria. We also enjoyed the little gift you left behind for us. This and all the attention to detail really made our stay so special. We hope to have the chance to visit South Africa again soon.

Michael and Fiona Ford, UK

"Safely home after a fantastic trip . Many thanks for your suggestions and for the great guides you arranged for us. Elsabe and Peter were both completely different but great and I would use either of them again. We will certainly return to your lovely country. The highlight of our trip golfing wise was certainly Fancourt – and my favourite course was the Montagu, however we would not have missed the Links for anything although it is one tough course!"

Hartmut Schilchting, Australia

"Even so we haven't been back to SA for 20 years we  were still feeling at home. The positive changes are noticeable but the great spirit of the place is still the same. Thanks for arranging such an enjoyable trip for us!"

Plan an unforgettable Victoria Falls Holiday with Drommedaris Holidays

The Victoria Falls constitutes one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world. The Local people call it "Mosi-oa-Tunya" – which means the smoke that thunders. The Victoria Falls is one of the most remarkable destinations on the planet.

There is a magic about the falls manifested in the towering column of spray when the river is high, the thunder of the falling water, the terrifying abyss and tranquil lagoons upstream in which hippo and crocodiles lurk.

The Victoria Falls is 1 708 meters wide, making it the largest curtain of water in the world. An average of 550,000 cubic metres of water plummets between 90m and 107m into the Zambezi Gorge. Remarkably preserved in its natural state, Victoria Falls inspires visitors as much today as it did David Livingstone in the 1860's. The falls and the surrounding area have been declared National Parks and a World Heritage Site, thus preserving the area from excessive commercialisation.

Livingstone (in Zambia) is a historic colonial city and the tourism centre for the Victoria Falls, lying 10 km south on the Zambezi River. Livingstone is a border town with road and rail connections to Zimbabwe on the other side of the Falls. The Airport has connections to Lusaka and Johannesburg in South Africa.

Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Zambia is an UNESCO World Heritage site and is twinned to the Victoria Falls National Park on the Zimbabwean side. The park forms the south-western boundary of Livingstone and has two main sections, a wildlife park at its north-western end and the land adjacent to the Victoria Falls. The national parks contain abundant wildlife including sizable populations of elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and a variety of antelope.

A number of activities can be undertaken. The 'Flight of Angels' provides a fabulous vista of the falls, the upstream river and its many islands and for the more adventurous there is microlighting with stunning views of the falls. Rafting the wild rapids below the falls is a very popular adventure. Visitors can also kayak, canoe, fish, go on guided walking safaris, ride on horseback and lunch on Livingstone's Island.

When taking into consideration all that can be discovered, a journey to Victoria Falls exemplifies a truly exhilarating holiday experience. Drommedaris Holidays offers a selection of exclusive Victoria Falls holiday packages for your perusal.
